A Sweet Day of Volunteering with First National Bank of Michigan

When life gives you lemons… make Lemonade Day a success!
Team members from First National Bank of Michigan spent the day lending their time and energy at Woods Lake Elementary School, helping young entrepreneurs turn their big ideas into bright, refreshing reality. It was a sweet day of volunteering — complete with smiles, laughter, and plenty of lemonade.
Lemonade Day is more than just mixing sugar, water, and lemons. It’s a fun, hands-on program designed to teach kids what it takes to start, own, and operate their very first business. From learning about budgets and setting profit goals to serving customers and even giving back to the community, students had the chance to experience what it’s like to be in business for themselves — one cup at a time.
With support from the Kalamazoo Regional Educational Service Agency and the CRA Association, the event empowered young learners to build skills in teamwork, problem-solving, customer service, and leadership. Each student team ran their own stand, kept their earnings, and learned to “spend some, save some, and share some.”
For the First National Bank of Michigan volunteers, the highlight of the day was meeting these future business leaders and helping them take their first steps into entrepreneurship. Who knows? The next great CEO may have gotten their start right here, pouring lemonade at Woods Lake Elementary!
One thing’s for sure — Lemonade Day proved that with a little guidance, encouragement, and community spirit, the recipe for success can be just as sweet as a cold glass of lemonade.
