FNBM Team Helps Tackle Hunger with Kalamazoo Loaves and Fishes

July 18, 2025

In both May and June, First National Bank of Michigan team members supported Kalamazoo Loaves and Fishes, helping sort food donations collected by local mail carriers during the annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive.

This incredible community effort brought in more than 65,000 pounds of food to help fight food insecurity in the Kalamazoo area. The FNBM team played a hands-on role in the process—emptying 9 large bins of donations, totaling several thousand pounds of non-perishable food items destined for families in need.

Volunteers from the Bank included Kiara Blett, Eric French, Kalani Ballinger, Jason Candelaria, Branden Miller, Kim Sharp, Kayla Chiamulera, Laura Reyna, James Crawford, Jerry Hinga, Molly Geerlings, Stena Buck, Brady Cochran, Tonya Schmitt, Dave Gibbs, Chris Mars, Olivia Urwiller, Brian Clark, Tim Hoekstra, Brian Mick, Marcus Kole, and Michelle Crane who dedicated their time and energy to ensure donations were efficiently sorted and ready for distribution.

“We’re proud to support the mission of Kalamazoo Loaves and Fishes and be part of an effort that directly helps our neighbors,” said one team member. “The sheer volume of donations and the community response was truly inspiring.”

First National Bank of Michigan is honored to work alongside organizations making a difference and will continue to invest in the well-being of our communities—one bin, one meal, and one volunteer at a time.
