First National Bank of Michigan Volunteers Educate Young Students on Community
July 15, 2024
Four dedicated individuals from First National Bank of Michigan (FNBM) recently volunteered their time to teach young students about the importance of community with the guidance of Junior Achievement of Southwest Michigan. The volunteers visited Moorsbridge Elementary, Woodland Elementary in Portage, and Parkwood Upjohn in Kalamazoo, where they engaged with first and second graders in a series of educational sessions.
The focus of their lessons was on defining what a community is, understanding various jobs within the community, learning about taxes, and the importance of voting. Through interactive and informative sessions, these volunteers helped students grasp these fundamental concepts, making learning both fun and meaningful.
Each volunteer committed to five sessions with the students, ensuring a comprehensive learning experience. The volunteers included Kelsey Bailey, Sara Amy, Eric French, and Brian Clark. Their dedication and effort in providing these valuable lessons have been greatly appreciated by the schools and the students alike.
FNBM has a long-standing partnership with Junior Achievement and deeply appreciates the contributions of individuals like Chloe Baum, JA Program Coordinator, and those who have developed the robust materials and curriculum for this program. The collaboration between FNBM and Junior Achievement has been instrumental in delivering high-quality educational experiences to young students, fostering a deeper understanding of their roles within their communities.
Thank you, FNBM volunteers, for your commitment to educating the next generation and helping them understand the vital role they play in their communities!
