Let’s Play Ball! FNBM Volunteers Support Challenger Little League
July 17, 2025
First National Bank of Michigan team members recently stepped up to the plate as volunteers for the Challenger Little League, a program that gives every athlete—regardless of ability—the chance to participate in a structured, inclusive athletic environment.
FNBM volunteers had the privilege of serving as “Buddies” during two spirited games, assisting and cheering on the players throughout the evening. Whether it was helping players around the bases or celebrating every hit, the joy on the field was contagious.
The Challenger League is more than just softball—it’s about building confidence, friendships, and a sense of community. It promotes self-esteem while teaching important values like teamwork, sportsmanship, and inclusion.
Representing the Bank were volunteers Jerry Hinga, Shaunna Padgett, Sara Mottl, Emily Newman, Kim Sharp, Melody Janetzke, Deb Lang, and Tonya Schmitt. Their time, energy, and encouragement helped make the experience memorable for each of the athletes.
“To be a Buddy at a Challenger game is the best feeling ever,” said one volunteer. “You leave with a full heart and a big smile.”
First National Bank of Michigan is proud to support organizations like the Challenger Little League that make such a positive impact in our communities. We look forward to joining the team again soon!
